Thank you for visiting. Team Nancy began four years ago to honor two women diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. Their stories speak to why money is sorely needed to advance research and beat lung cancer.
Nancy Schoch's doctors thought her hoarseness was caused by GERD. Months passed before she learned that she had Stage IV LC, and that a large tumor was pressing against her larynx. She died four months later.
When Nancy Huang learned she had late-stage LC almost seven years ago, she had access to a cutting-edge immunotherapy trial at UCLA. Today, she is going strong and just saw her daughter start high school.
You'll see Nancy and her daughter above, together with her UCLA oncologist, Dr. Jonathan Goldman, who did last year's 5K with the rest of us.
But far more needs to be done. More than 158,000 people in the U.S. are estimated to have to died of lung cancer in 2016. That's more than the three other leading cancers combined - breast, prostate and lung cancer - and 27% of all cancer deaths.
Team Nancy began in 2014 and today counts four LC survivors among its strongest supporters, two diagnosed since our team began.
